Imprints from Nature

Among some of my newest ideas are prints from nature. I am constantly inspired by my surroundings, living in the Pacific Northwest offers many beautiful ideas for me. I am lucky enough to have all the plants I use readily avaliable in my yard here in Seattle, WA. Currently I'm making molds from pine cones, pine needles, cedar, fern and lilac buds. I start by making molds from sections of these plants. Then after pressing fine silver into those molds I cut each shape out by hand depending on the shape I'm after at the moment.  After the piece has been heated to save the shape and print I patina them to give that antiqued look, afterwards polishing parts to give the piece some contrast. I love using nature in my work and it's great to find the inspiration right where I am!

Come check them out at Pike Place Market in Seattle, WA daily!

Organic color!

Fresh ideas are continually coming out of my studio. Some of the very latest are very colorful scarfs. I start with raw 100% cotton fabric. After cutting the scarf shape to size, I then hand dye each piece individually, using hand mixed colors I create. The drying process takes quite awhile but once they are ready I then handpaint each scarf. When they are finished I stich each one together in a infinity style scarf. I never know how they are going to turn out or what design they will have until I start painting.  Each one becoming it's own One of a kind. The color and design always coming organically!

You can find these scarfs among my other creations everyday at Pike Place Market in Seattle, WA.

Finding fresh inspiration can sometimes be a challenge when your job is creating pieces that sell on the daily.  Sometimes I find myself caught up in creating what sells and getting out of making new designs.  These times don't last long as I easily get bored with similarity.  There's nothing more exciting to me than coming up with something new.  I cannot wait to get those pieces on my table for sale at Pike Place Market to see what the public thinks of my new idea!  I get the best feedback from the people traveling through, whether they like the new design or sometimes seem to not even notice it. Over the last ten years of having my business in Seattle, I have realized the best sellers are always the pieces I enjoy and love the most.  Almost as if I'm selling my love for creating, to me an amazing feeling!  My latest inspirations include hand worked titanium cuffs and earrings and some very uniquely sculpted fine silver. As always, each piece is one of a kind in its uniqueness. You can always see my most recent work at Pike Place Market in Seattle, Wa seven days a week. My website is another place to see my ever evolving work OrganicLoveDesigns.com. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and I hope you get a chance to check out what I'm writing about!

Walks on the beach. Always an inspiring venture for me. I find myself looking down so much, after a while I'm forced to look above and stretch my neck. You will often find me at the beach. Surfing, beach combing or just sitting, taking in the sights and the sounds. The ocean is a place where I can slow down and re-center my focus.

I find a lot of inspiration for my work in nature. The texture of the waves, the color of the sky, the stones I find along the way. All these things fuel my creative process. Being in nature allows my mind to slow from day to day life to see life's deep beauty, inspiring and freeing. Lately I use beach stones I collect on my walks, I carefuly choose some precious stones then take them back to my shop and embed them with semi-precious and precious gemstones. I love the contrast of nature polished and man polished together. Something unique like all of us. Nature built, polished by man.
